Floor Wars Confuror 2024: Fight Club

This dance competition is for everyone! With or without a fursuit. A match between talents of the community who want to have a dance battle even if they don’t have or want to wear a fursuit for it. No choreography, 100% improvisation and for any type of dancer with or without experience.

How will it be carried out?

Anyone is welcome to join the competition. You may wear your fursuit if you wish, but it is not a requirement to participate. This competition is centered on 1-on-1 match-ups. The winners of each match-up moves on to the next round!

When you sign up for this battle, you will first present your dance in front of the jury at the casting during Confuror on Friday, October 11th, 2024 (time to be confirmed). If you are chosen, you will enter into dance matches until only one overall winner remains. Only 16 warriors will be chosen!

Requirements and participation guidelines

Requirements:

1. Be registered for Confuror 2024. The registration ID will be required. The application will be cancelled if this information cannot be verified.
2. Carefully fill out the registration form before October 8. No new registrations will be accepted after this deadline.
3. Be 13 years of age or older to be eligible to participate. If you are a minor and want to participate in this event, you must have permission from your parents or guardians and be accompanied by them at all times.
4. Provide the names of four songs that you would like to dance to in your entries. Remember to spell the names of the songs correctly: Example, SHAKIRA - Try Everything, DEORRO - Beso (Original Mix), BANDA MS - Sonidito, AQUA - Baby Girl (Pablito Remix), etc.
5. Show up on the assigned Casting date; Friday, October 11th. See the Casting section below.
6. Participants must be present at least 15 minutes in advance in the corresponding room and at the corresponding time.
7. This year Floor Wars features a playlist of songs that will be used in different stages of the event. To listen to this playlist, follow this link: Official Floor Wars 2024 Playlist.

A participant will only be considered officially registered if they meet all the requirements and shows up at the casting.

Previous steps:

1. Select four songs that you would like to dance to and list their names correctly. Example, SHAKIRA - Try Everything, DEORRO - Beso (Original Mix), BANDA MS - Sonidito, AQUA - Baby Girl (Pablito Remix), etc.
2. Fill out your application form using the form provided, including the names of the songs you would like to dance.

Characteristics of the music tracks:

• Any musical genre is welcome. You may use a mix of music with no limit of songs, as long as it complies with the maximum duration of 60 seconds.
• The audio of the tracks must be censored in case it includes words not suitable for all ages. Based on the names provided, we will look for the most optimal version to use in the scenario (“radio edit” or “censored”).
• Any required changes to the track must be notified before the deadline for submission to [email protected].

Contest Rules

In order to guarantee participation and move on to the final stage, the following rules must be complied with:

1. Anyone can participate in the competition with or without Fursuit*.
2. The competition has been designated as a PG-13 event, due to the nature of “Floor Wars” and its audience. It is important to note that content may be rated as such, from music selection to subject matter. Malicious, lewd, lascivious, profane content or behavior that exceeds the PG-13 rating will not be permitted under any circumstances.
3. No excessive, provocative or inappropriate contact with other competitors or their fursuit. Disrespect or aggression within the event will result in immediate disqualification of the participant.
4. Do not interrupt other dancers’ sets (take up space on the dance floor, interfere with their turn).
5. Gestures, signs and/or logos that could be considered offensive are not allowed. Whether in costumes or as props.
6. The requested songs will be played randomly and cannot be requested within the event. Nor will a change of song be allowed.
7. As participants progress through the dance competition, the songs will vary from their previously submitted pieces to elements of the extra Floor Wars repertoire (the point is your versatility within any rhythm).
8. You are important in the competition, so take care of your movements and acrobatics, as well as your belongings, your fursuit and even your clothes; because if you get hurt, suffer an accident, damage or lose your equipment; we will not be responsible for these situations. You are responsible for yourself and we trust in your talents.
9. VERY IMPORTANT, HAVE FUN! (We’re here to have a good time, regardless of the outcome, so please encourage your friends and keep the good vibes going!)

*If you participate with a Fursuit, the Fursuit must remain with you at all times during your performance, unless there is a medical emergency.

The event organizers reserve the right to intervene in any performance during the event, when deemed necessary.

Battle dynamics

When the participant steps onto the dance floor, a randomly chosen track from the 4 provided by the participant will start. They must perform the dance corresponding to that track or improvise. At the end of the track selected (30 - 60 seconds), their opponent will perform their own dance using a randomly selected track from their own set. The judges’ evaluation will point to a winner between the two, and the winner will move on to the next round.

In each round the winners of the previous rounds will face each other, the tracks of their set will be played randomly without repetition. During the casting, the best 16 participants will be selected and will compete in the first round. The best 8 will move on to the “Round of eight”. From this round, the best 4 will move on to the “Quarterfinals”, and from this round the two Final competitors will be defined.

Casting:

On Friday, October 11th, (time to be confirmed) a catsing will be held for all registered participants. Each one will have the opportunity to present one of the four routines of their choice in front of the jury in order to demonstrate their abilities and aspire to be one of the 16 selected to participate in the battles.

All those registered must present themselves at the casting or they will be disqualified. Those selected will be announced that same night.

The most important thing about this battle is to have fun! You will be able to dance freely and show how you move on stage, encourage your friends and keep the good vibes going!
